Phase mismapping artifact? (Motion & Flow artifact)

It is created by an anatomical structure that moves along a gradient field while a pulse sequence is applied.
This artifact appears in the form of a ghost, made by respiratory motion in chest wall, abdominal wall and made by heart motion, blood vessels with pulse, swallowing action, and eye movement during data acquisition.

 

Prevention measures

Among them, we seek patient cooperation in the case of voluntary movements such as breathing, saliva swallowing, and eye movement.

Among involuntary movements, we can remove Phase mismapping artifact by ECG gating in the case of heart motion, by breathing triggers in the case of breathing motion, and Bowels' movements are reduced by injections (buscopan, glucagon).

Since this artifact always occurs along the phase encoding, the artifact can be removed from the region of interest by changing the frequency and phase encoding direction (swap).

Phase mismapping? (움직임과 혈관흐름에 의한 인공물)

펄스 시퀀스가 가해지는 동안 경사자장을 따라 움직이는 해부학적 구조에 의해 만들어진다.

이 인공물은 ghost의 형태로 나타나는데 자료 수집 중에 움직이는 호흡 중의 흉벽, 복벽, 심장 또는 맥박이 있는 혈관, 연하작용, 안구 운동등에 의해 나타난다.

 

방지대책

이 중에 자발적인 움직임인 호흡, 침 삼킴, 눈 운동은 환자에게 협조를 구한다.

비자발적 움직임 중에서 심장은 ECG 게이팅으로, 호흡은 호흡 트리거로 조절하고 Bowels의 움직임은 주사제(부스코판, 글루카곤)로 조절한다.

이 인공물은 항상 위상부호화 축을 따라 발생하기 때문에 주파수와 위상 방향을 바꾸어 줌으로서 관심영역에 인공물을 제거할 수 있다.
